The Science of PTFE Extrusion: A World of Possibilities
PTFE is a unique polymer that is processed very differently than other polymer plastics. Following a brief history of PTFE, this presentation describes in detail the chemical structure of PTFE and how to process the material via extrusion. In addition, we explore electrospinning of PTFE nanofiber as a way to make novel products. Applications for PTFE are covered in markets such as wire and cable insulation, medical device design, fiber optics, and chemical fluid transport.
